A Turkish businessman, who entered the Japanese market by selling live fish to traditional "sushi" restaurants 5 years ago, has now become a successful name that sells Turkish products to Japan's finest restaurants and airline companies. Turkish businessman Ayhan Bermek, who carries out joint activities with the Turkish delegation accompanying Turkish State Minister for foreign trade Zafer Caglayan during his visit to the Japanese capital of Tokyo, talked to AA regarding his business activities and future plans in the Far East.
Bermek said he had started his business life in Japan 5 years ago with a 2 million USD cash investment and he had increased his 500,000 USD turnover to 40 million USD lately.
Bermek noted that his company currently sold a wide range of Turkish products in Japan such as dried fruits, olive oil, cheese, tomato paste and fresh fish to be used in the traditional Japanese food "sushi".
"As we keep growing in Japan, I am getting prepared to do the same business in China. China is a great market," he said.
Calling on Turkish businessmen to do business in the Far East, Bermek said, "If you have products of good quality, you can make a reputation here in a very short time and nobody can send you away".
"Turkish entrepreneurs should attach more importance to China. Turkey has an export target of 500 billion USD for the year 2023. We will not be able to achieve such goal unless our exports to China reaches 150 billion USD till that date. Therefore, everybody should show interest in China starting from today," Bermek said.
