"During 2007, 650,000 American tourists visited Turkey. This is the highest number ever recorded. In recent years, the number of tourists visiting Turkey has increased at a rate that is almost three times the world average, with 23.3 million people visiting Turkey in 2007. In 2006, there were 19 million, while in 2005, 21 million visited Turkey. The Culture and Tourism Ministry, which has established a 10 million dollar budget for the North American market in 2008, plans on bringing 1 million American tourists to Turkey by the end of the year." Vienna, Austria - Turkey, which is number one among the countries of the world in consumption of bread, also possesses the technology important in the development of the work of a baker. According to a survey done by the Turkish Public Union in 2006, the annual bread consumption, in kilo/ person,  is 71 in Denmark, 51 in Finland, 62 in Germany, 68 in Italy, 60 in the Netherlands, 58.5 in Spain and goes up to 128 in Turkey.

The Actors in the Ethnic Furniture Market

Vienna, Austria – The total volume of the furniture sector in Austria is estimated to be worth 30 billion dollars. Approximately 700,000 immigrants who live in Austria constitute 15% of this market with 4.5 billion dollars. In addition to the Turkish emigrants, about 500,000 others from countries of the former Yugoslavia, such as Serbia, Bosnia and Slovenia reside in Austria.

As in many West European countries, immigrants in Germany and their adaptation to society is one of the constant issues in German politics. If Germany is taken as the focal point, the Turks, forming the largest immigrant group with a population of 2.6 million, have a consistent place in the middle of the discussion.

Turkish Brands Born of German Giants

Germany - The population of nearly 3 million Turks that live in Germany has raised the interest of German firms that are interested in the possibilities of the ethnically-based market. E-Plus, an important company in the German mobile communications market, is currently offering Turks economic rates for both domestic calls within Germany and international calls with Turkey under the banner of its project Ay Yıldız (Crescent and Star). Deutsche Bank's “Bankamız”, or “Our Bank” project is breaking new ground in terms of providing banking services in Turkish.

A Telecoms Brand: Pentatel

Cologne, Germany- In 2006 the telecommunications sector of Germany had a turnover of 67 billion Euro. Out of all of Germany's domestic and international calls, Turks were responsible for 10 percent of that turnover. In other words, Turks living in Germany spent 6.7 billion Euro on telephone calls.

The Man Who Couldn't Buy Farm Equipment

He was a farmer working in Aksaray in the early 1970s, dreaming of the proper farming equipment he needed to better harvest his fields. He gave the money he had saved to his son Ahmet Aktaş, who was setting off for Europe in order to buy a threshing machine for his father's farm. Having just finished his military service and with his father's money in his pocket, Aktaş arrived in Europe.

Frankfurt – Among the more than 200 döner producers operating in Germany, there is one brand that everyone accepts as a leader in the market: Karmez. The Tütüncübaşı siblings: Müfit, Mustafa, Özer, Önder, Ömer, Enfil, Muzaffer and Şima started their business lives by selling meat to Turkish markets in 1982. Within 20 years, they had become the major producers of prepared döner in Europe.
